Year 1989, DJ SYSTEM-D begins to mix some different stuff in his bedroom at 13 whereas "New Beat" music makes devastation over Belgium.  He particularly loves acid-house, hip-house and breakbeat music in general. The first 12 inches he buys are the likes of Bomb The Bass "Beat Dis", M.A.R.R.S. "Pump Up the Volume", A Guy Called Gerald's "Vodoo Ray", Tyree's "Hip-House Music", Royal House "Can U Feel It" or Inner City's "Big Fun"... He also starts to take a real interest in scratching techniques and hip-hop movement... His deejaying career starts really back in 1991 when he collaborates with rappers and to the first Belgian hip-hop magazine "ENA".  System-D dedicates his time for hip-hop and for music...

He's interested by jungle music since the ragga-jungle period around 94 and already likes the 'rave' and 'hardcore' sound like Prodigy, Altern8, B-Sides, some R'n'S releases or the first Reinforced stuff.  His first trip to London in 95 is a real revelation.  Jungle music became quickly his first interest.  He really starts to play Jungle/Drum and Bass exclusively and then produces in his own weekly radio show in 96 simply called Jungle Mixture on the independent and 'groove' oriented station Action FM in Brussels (it was the first 'Drum and Bass only' program in the country).  Then follows more and more bookings all over the country and outside Belgium and many appearances at most of the independent Belgian radio stations (Radio Centraal in Antwerp, Equinoxe FM in Liege, Radio Campus and Radio Crystal in Brussels among others).

He played alongside the biggest names as Grooverider, Fabio, Ed Rush, Optical, Matrix, Total Science, Bad Company, DJ Zinc, DJ Hype, Krust, Kosheen, Marcus Intalex, Technical Itch, Dom 'n' Roland, Alex Reece, E-Z Rollers, J-Majik, Sonic 'n' Silver, Nicky Blackmarket, Dillinja to name but a few.

He is again the first as Drum and Bass dj in Belgium to have his own website in 1996.  Today System-D's website [www.system-d.com] is one of the most visited Belgian Drum and Bass  site, and includes mixes, tracks, charts and dates.  In 1998 he is crowned by the world finest Drum and Bass website Drum 'n' Bass Arena in a dj battle and two years later he is the overseas winner again in a mixtape competition organised by the well known magazine 'Knowledge' (September 2000 issue, with Kosheen on cover).  From March 2000 he also takes part on the Internet radio BOUPS.COM project and had his weekly show on this first online D'nB station based in Belgium.  In 2002 he also had a weekly show on BASSDRIVE.COM, the first 24/7 drum'n'bass Internet station in US.

DJ System-D is all about destroying any dance floor bringing the crowd to another level with his unique technique combining tight mixing skills, scratches and beat-juggling.  In Belgium he's often compared with his masters Hype, Marky or Andy C!  In 2001 he totally smashed the dance floor for his first gig in Liverpool, alongside Nicky Blackmarket and Ray Keith ('X' night, 1st June 2001).  Since this unbelievable experience he is regularly booked in Liverpool, playing with the local heads Sappo, Si Smith, Futurebound...

In addition of his own weekly radio show, mixtapes and bookings, he is running the INSIDE nights since the year 2000 as the first regular Drum and Bass party in Brussels.  INSIDE is today the most known Drum and Bass night in Belgium having made its reputation on the quality and the respect of the public.  INSIDE has invited the likes of Total Science, Andy C, Bassline Smith, A-Sides, J-Majik, Futurebound, Digital, Stakka, Skynet, Nicky Blackmarket, MC Fats, MC Foxy, MC Verse, MC GQ... to name a few only.  Check www.rollinside.com.  In April 2003 he also started a new bi-monthly night called CITY PRESSURE in a smaller club of 350 people capacity.  He is also responsible for promoting some other events like OLD SKOOL PRESSURE (Lounge Club, Brussels), ORGANIC (Lounge Club, Brussels), TOASTER (So What Cafe, Brussels), WARNER BASS (La Chapelle, Soundstation, Liege).

At 27 he is certainly the busiest Drum and Bass head in Belgium and after more than 10 years deejaying he finally starts to make his own music!  Last year he finally started to spend time for making beats, and has already a 12inch out late June 2004 on INTERCOM RECORDINGS, the E-Z Rollers imprint ("Here's The Power" / "Odysseus").  His style as producer is like as DJ: eclectic, effective and innovating as well.  He also started to collaborate with the incredible MC Jamalski (Roughneck Reality, www.jamalski.com) .  Watch out for "We Control" featuring Jamalski / "Ruff" to come soon on Intercom [www.intercomrecordings.com]...

He also has some darker stuff to come on Multics label Fictive Audio [www.fictiveaudio.co.uk]

Off, Dour, Pukkelpop, Antwerp is Burning, Star Warz, Ancienne Belgique, City Parade…
